Used most frequently in jazz and big band music, the plunger mute is used in by one hand while playing
with their other hand. A "closed" plunger gives a tone similar to a
tightly inserted cup mute, and a skilled plunger technician can often
produce all kinds of strange sounds which sometimes sound like the human voice!
Usually used by more advanced players, this mute can be tricky to start with but is worth the effort and looks great on stage!
