The first thing you notice about the Seagull S6 Original, and the whole Seagull brand for that matter, is the tapered headstock design. This unique design allows a straight string pull to the machine heads, which dramatically improves tuning and reduces the need to tune the guitar regularly. The second feature is the slightly wider nut width that comes in at just over 45mm, making the Seagull S6 the perfect choice for the fingerstyle player or for the player that struggles on a more standard width neck.
The S6 looks and feels like a guitar twice its price tag, and this is largely due to the high quality timbers Robert Godin and his team use in its creation. The S6 features a solid pressure tested Cedar top, and laminated Wild Cherry back and sides. A pressure tested top ensures the highest level of rigidity and stiffness along with maximum harmonic vibration. This benefits the overall tone, projection, and resonance, which in turn benefits the player and increases the lifespan of the guitar. Don't let the fact that the S6 has a laminated back and sides put you off. There's a big difference to using cheap laminates to the high quality laminates found on the Seagull S6 range. Yes, you can find cheaper guitars that are all solid, but when played alongside the S6 there's no comparison to the tonally qualities and voice produced by the S6.
The Seagull S6 sounds big and bold, but totally balanced when played either by strumming or fingerstyle. There's a woody overtone and strong dynamic range that leaves you not wanting to put it down. This is a guitar you'll have for life, at an incredibly affordable price point, and we urge you to try one!
