2nd Wind

News flash - we are still looking for flute, clarinet and brass players of all abilities to join this exciting new wind band... If you would like to take part, please get in touch!
What is 2nd Wind?
2nd Wind is an adult wind band aimed at giving lapsed players the perfect opportunity to take up their instrument again.
Who is behind it?
The Music Industries Association (MIA) represent the musical instrument trade in the UK. They are committed to the goal of creating and encouraging music making. They have asked Sheehans to pilot this new project in Leicestershire, with the aim of reproducing it again and again throughout the country.
Who is 2nd Wind for?
2nd Wind is designed primarily for adults who used to play a wind instrument and who would like to get back into music. It will also suit adult learners who are currently taking lessons but have nowhere to play with other people.
What is involved?
2nd Wind involves a two hour rehearsal every week on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm, with an open rehearsal or concert for friends and family every 12 weeks. The rehearsals are held at the Richard Attenborough Centre on Lancaster Rd, Leicester.
The MD is Brian Humpherson, well known as one of the County’s finest Musical Directors. Brian is vastly experienced and Sheehans are delighted that he is in charge of the project.
What will it cost?
2nd Wind is being run by Sheehans on a non profit making basis. We anticipate that the cost will be around £60 in total. This is to cover room hire and MD’s expenses. Sheehans can also offer instrument hire - please ask at the shop for details.
What will we play?
We aim to invite all those interested in finding out more about 2nd Wind to a meeting in advance of the start date. We can then look at who we have joining, what the average standard is and what they would like to play.
What happens next?
If you think you may be interested in 2nd Wind and would like to find out more, contact Rebecca Bailey at Sheehans for an application form to register your interest. We will then follow up nearer the time with information on the first meeting. Rebecca can be contacted on 0800 043 1022, or by using our email contact form.
