Charlie is a passionate and enthusiastic musician, who finds real pleasure in teaching the gift of music to the younger generation. His favourite genres are rock, pop, and blues, but he is happy to teach all styles.
Charlie currently works at Sheehan’s Music as an electric and acoustic guitar specialist, and has been accepted to study Music at the University of Salford starting in October 2016.
During his time in Leicester he intends on inspiring younger players to develop a passion for playing guitar by giving them the necessary building blocks to play with confidence.
Ed first picked up the guitar at the age of 13. A quick learner, he practiced day and night, training his ears and learning album after album of rock,metal, punk, ska, pop, and many other genres of music. Keen to crack on, Ed began jamming in bands and soon found himself gigging at the age of 14. Throughout the next 5 years he balanced gigging most weeks, recording EPs and music lessons at college until at the age of 19, he embarked on his first UK tour. Ed continued touring with various bands for the next 7 years playing many of the well known venues throughout the UK until joining the band Toseland in September 2013.
In the 3 years since, the band has traveled the uk on many headline tours in support of their 2 albums. They have also supported the likes of Staus Quo, Reef, Sebastian Bach, Micheal Monroe. This year has seen the band complete 2 weeks in Europe with Black Stone Cherry throughout February. The band have just returned from Italy and Germany opening up for Deep Purple in arenas.
Besides gigging, Ed has been teaching guitar for 11 years privately and in local schools. He is available to teach electric/acoustic/bass guitar.
Mikey Shine is a professional musician (previously playing with the Happy Mondays) and has been teaching Guitar and Bass since 2006 for all levels of expertise from beginner to expert. He has a loyal and expanding group of students of all ages and abilities.
Lessons are designed to be enjoyable and fun, They are individually tailored to the students musical preference and ability and structured to include guitar technique, improvement in proficiency, musical appreciation, composition, performance and recording techniques. Mikey can also help with information on the management and organisation of performances and stage craft.
Mikey is passionate about music and hopes students share his love for the instrument and commit to practicing outside the lessons to ensure that they progress at an optimum pace and gain the most benefit from the lessons.
Mikey is available for lessons on Tuesdays andSaturdays at the Academy.
Callum is an experienced guitar player and singer, having played guitar for 16 years and performed in several bands touring throughout the UK. He teaches most styles of guitar and vocals, but specialises in rock and metal, including both harsh and clean vocal styles.
A skilled songwriter and lyricist, he performed with thrash metal band Nefarious who went on to play Bloodstock festival in 2009. He then formed the band Headwires in 2011, in which he was lead guitarist and lead vocalist at hundreds of shows. He produced the first EP and album for Headwires, as well as numerous EPs and albums for various UK bands.
David is a musician with 20 years experience in the music industry, gigging and touring during the 1990s "britpop" era. Playing as a session musician and in his own bands writing, producing and recording.
Since then he has been composing for the Tv and film industry from his dedicated studios firstly in London and now relocated to the midlands where he writes/produces and records for all forms of media specialising in Tv theme and incidental music packages for production companies. Published through Connexion Media Group and Universal Music Publishing with credits all over the world he has gained a reputation as a versatile musician and composer.
David is a graduate of Brunel university with a BA hons in music.
He has taught in the school system both in London and the Midlands for the Richmond Music Trust, Richmond Adult College, Arts in Education and privately for his own company Bignote Music and brings 20 years of teaching experience to the Academy.
David is available at Sheehans to teach beginners through to more advanced players in acoustic, rock and classical guitar using the trinity guildhall and RGT syllabus's grades 1-8.
He is available to teachWednesday afternoons/evenings and Saturday morningsat our Academy
Alastair has been teaching for 9 years. He graduated with BA (Hons) from the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford where he also attained an HND and BTEC diploma in popular music practice. He is also a member of the RGT (Registry of guitar tutors).
He is currently the guitar lecturer on the BTEC level 2 & 3 performing musician courses at Leicester College.
Outside of teaching Alastair works as a freelance guitarist and has performed with various original performing artists and functions bands. He has toured extensively throughout the UK and EU. He runs workshops and group classes on general playing, improvisation, music theory & composition. He also works with bands as a performance coach helping them develop their stage skills.
Alastair is comfortable playing in all musical styles and encourages his students to develop their own musical sensibilities and voice on the instrument.
With his graded students he holds a 100% pass rate working in the Rockschool, RGT and trinity rock & pop syllabuses.
He is available for electric, acoustic and bass guitar lessons on Wednesdays & Thursday afternoons/evenings at the Academy.
Mike has been teaching here at the Academy since September 2014 and has quickly gained a lot of loyal students of all ages and abilities. He has been playing for 17 years and teaches all styles, but specialises in rock and metal.
He will use Rockschool and Trinity Rock & Pop for those wanting to take exams.<./p>
He is a graduate of Clarendon College Nottingham, with a BND in Popular Music.
Mike formed the metal band Deadfall, performing around the UK including at Bloodstock Festival.Deadfall often opened for well known metal bands (such as Exodus and INME), and worked with record companies and established producers on a variety of projects. Independently, Mike has produced albums for numerous bands, and has worked as a mixing engineerthroughout the UK and EU.
He teaches at the Academy on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays andSaturdays
Chris fell in love with music at an early age and began studying guitar at age 10. He followed his passion to The Academy of Contemporary Music (BaHons) where he discovered a zeal for teaching.
Having taught for the UK's largest independent music school, 'The Rock Project' and worked as a high level teaching assistant before becoming a secondary school classroom teacher specialising in Music and Drama, Chris has extensive subject knowledge and experience in teaching.
Specialising in blues, gypsy jazz, jazz, rock and country but comfortable in most styles, Chris can tailor individual lessons to an individuals needs. Rather than spending time learning songs, Chris prefers to provide students with the skills they need to learn independently. Grades 1-8 can also be offered through Rock School.
Chris teaches at the Academy Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons
