Yamaha's entry level wooden-bodied Bb clarinet features several design refinements over the basic resin-bodied YCL-250SUK model, including upgraded springs for a better key action, and a leatherette-finish hard case.
Adult beginners may want to try the YCL-450S against it's closest competitor, the Buffet E11.
A word of caution...
Although wooden clarinets will generally produce a better tone than instruments made from ABS resin, they are more easily damaged, and require more careful cleaning and maintainance; in particular, the wood is prone to cracking if the moisture is not cleaned out after each playing session. Because of this (and the extra cost of a wooden clarinet) it's usually more sensible to start a younger beginner on a resin-bodied instrument.
